Sex is always a hot button topic. It’s fun, exciting, pleasurable, and rightfully so. It was designed by the Master Designer Himself. Yes, God created the sex impulses we experience, so if you thought of Him as being boring, bland and blah, you probably might want to adjust your paradigm in that regard. Why are elements of sex and food held in such high esteem? They have been dubbed “basic necessities” by many psychologists and sociologists; infamously so by Abraham Maslow in his hierarchy of needs. They rank among other factors including water, homeostasis, sleep, and excretion.

By Maslow’s rule of thought, you cannot live adequately or maybe for long periods without these factors being intact. He is right! If your entire being was sustained, maintained, preserved, protected, and totally dependent upon only these physiological factors being intact and perfectly balanced, then stock up on all the food, sex, sleep, and water there is; seek and secure as much homeostasis as you can, and poo and pee as much as you like! If you think about it, we as humans invest most of our energy and our time, essentially our lives, trying to put measures in place to ensure that these physiological needs are adequately met. And we have become quite the expert at this exercise too; altering systems, ignoring natural laws, and doing away with fundamental truths and anything for that matter that would stand in the way of us having all the sex we can and eating all the food we can.

Our lives have literally been reduced and socially engineered to focus on these physiological factors. They form the primary and fundamental basis for living the “good life”. I am a bit curious though, having met many people and heard of many others whose lives are well defined by these fundamental factors, and though they have access to a constant supply of food, sex and water, yet they still commit suicide. They are strung out on drugs; they are addicted to alcohol; their home life is a colossal failure; and they are dissatisfied with life, unfulfilled and empty. I have always wondered, why? If we have access to everything that man, a created being who we have placed such unwavering faith in, says we need to live a happy and contented life, then why is the world the way it is? Why aren’t we happy?

Could it be that there might be another component, another part of our being that takes preeminence over our physical bodies? A component of the human make-up with needs that cannot be met by mere physiological factors such as food, sex, water, homeostasis, and the ability to pass waste? In your manual for living, in the book of 1 Corinthians 6:9-10, the One who designed you and all of your components, including your physical body; your soul which constitutes your will, emotions, mind and personality; and, your spirit. Your Master Designer and Manufacturer, states unequivocally (paraphrase);

“If your life is defined and is fundamentally driven by meeting your physiological needs only, you have no part in Me. If your life is consumed with sex and all your decisions revolve sex, independent of Me and independent of the way I, not man, designed it and the confines in which it was meant to be experienced, I have no rule over your life and you have not part in Me. If your life is pleasure-driven, if it is controlled by anything except Me, you have no part in Me.”

When it comes to an intimate and authentic relationship with God, there is no other way but His way. You cannot come to God on your terms. You cannot live as you want to, do as you want to and expect Him to be Lord in your life. You cannot continue violating His instructions, His word and in the same breath profess to love Him. You have no jurisdiction whatsoever over the laws of God. You cannot alter them to suit your desires, your likes or your wants, neither can you create an alternative to God’s way. You cannot serve The Lord God and money at the same time. You cannot serve God and sex at the same time. You cannot serve God and food at the same time. You must choose this day whom you will serve. If it is God, then it is God. If it is something else, then it cannot be God.

Self-deception is the worst kind. No matter how much we want to subscribe to the truth that He loves us and He does, God is not schizophrenic. His word is His law. He will never alter it for me, for you or for anyone else for that matter. He has declared without reservation that, “Earth and sky will be destroyed [Heaven and earth will pass away], but the words I have said will never be destroyed” (Matthew 24:35). God is one with His words. This is what He means when He says, “I am a Holy God”. It means, His word is His bond. Can you imagine what it would mean for humanity, for the whole creation, if we could not trust God to uphold His words? If He was wont to changing His mind about what He says?

You and I would be in serious trouble. We would not be able to trust Him with anything. Have you ever encountered people that you could not trust because they were unreliable? How did they make you feel? Were you prone to entrusting them with the things that were most important to you? If you did, I would think you are crazy! God is not like that. He is reliable. Why then do we on one hand desire and even need Him to be reliable and trustworthy, based on the fact that He keeps His words, but then on the other hand demand of Him to alter those very words to suit our proclivities? Is it really God who has the problem or is it us?

Here is God’s answer to those of you who find yourself being driven primarily by your physiological needs and are wanting a way out. If you come to Him on His terms, He will wash you, cleanse you, set you apart, restore you to your original self and set you on the right path in the name of the Lord Jesus, the Anointed, by His Spirit (1 Corinthians 6:11). You belong to God. You need Him more than food, sex, water, homeostasis, the ability to excrete, and the very breath you breathe. You need God more than life itself. You haven’t truly begun living until He has absolute and complete control of your life. When you come to God and you give yourself completely over to Him, your opinions no longer hold weight. Instead, His opinions, culture, values, customs, language, disposition, and ways of doing things become your own. You take on His nature and you walk as His representative in the earth.

Wherever you go, in whatever setting you find yourself, you represent His interests. This is what it means to be a Kingdom Ambassador. It means that you represent His government wherever you are. The word ambassador means, “an official envoy; a person who is the highest ranking diplomat who represents a State and is usually accredited to another sovereign State (country), or to an international organization as the resident representative of his or her own government or sovereign.” An ambassador is always stationed in a foreign country, also referred to as a host country. The host country typically allows the ambassador control of specific territory called an embassy, whose territory, staff, and vehicles are generally afforded diplomatic immunity in this host country.

You as a Kingdom Ambassador live in this world, but you should never subscribe to the world’s opinions or the world’s ways of doing things. You should never be influenced by it’s culture, it’s language, it’s practices, or it’s social constructs. Your obligation and allegiance is always to the government that you represent, that is, the  Kingdom of God. Most importantly, your role is to advance the agenda of your government in the place where you have been stationed. When you come to Christ you are no longer you. Instead, you become light, salt and yeast. Your responsibility is to influence and infect those around you with the components of what you represent, and here is what you represent; righteousness or right living, and joy and peace that the world desperately needs and that only the One you represent can truly provide. The kind of joy and peace that secure hearts and minds, despite external circumstances. This is the authority that you are given when you receive Christ as Lord of your life and this is what it means to have the Kingdom of God come to earth.

Your life is worth so much more than what you have been taught or what culture would want you to believe. It’s time to place a higher premium on your own self.
